At the Rainbow’s End

A brand new script-in-hand performance based on the lived experiences of older LGBTQ+ people in adult social care, followed by a Q&A session between the audience, the writer, the cast and invited panellists. At the Rainbow’s End is a brand new, moving, original and hard-hitting play based on interviews with older LGBTQ+ people who have experienced homophobia and transphobia in care settings or in their own home when receiving care.

  • Fri 14th June — 3pm and 7pm
  • Sun 16th June — 3pm and 7pm
  • Sun 30th June — 3pm and 7pm

Although some of the content of this piece makes for uncomfortable listening, this work is intended to raise awareness of forms of discrimination that LGBTQ+ people fear and have experienced. It shines a light on the importance of understanding the specific challenges faced by older LGBTQ+ people. The play seeks to raise awareness of the issue amongst the LGBTQ+ population and also to engage with the social care sector and encourage dialogue to develop learning, skills and confidence to address these challenges so that older LGBTQ+ people can feel safe to be their authentic selves wherever they live or receive care, and do not have to fear going back into the closet in later life.

Presented by Artemis Theatre Company. Supported by Royal Victoria Hall Foundation

I’ve Been Clare Summerskill

A celebratory evening of songs and comedy presented by the legendary lesbian singer-songwriter and comedienne.

In her latest full-length stage show show, I’ve Been Clare Summerskill, Clare combines her comedy and songwriting talents to reflect upon her long career as what she terms ‘a professional lesbian’! Her humour is warm, welcoming, and often far too close to the bone. Audience members of any age, sexual orientation or gender identity will relish her unique take on matters of love and lust, marriage and divorce, and middle-aged worries and wisdom. Her comedy songs are hilarious, and, as you will discover, Clare is a multi-talented comedienne and musician.
